P269 Cardiac Emergencies

  • About This Course

The signs and symptoms of cardiac emergencies include chest pain, shortness of breath, fast and slow heart rates, increased respiratory rate, low blood pressure, poor peripheral perfusion (indicated by prolonged capillary refill time) and altered mental state.

Aims

This course aims to help learners understand  the difference between angina and myocardial infarction. An overview of the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of both, is given.

Objectives

To understand:

  • The difference between angina and myocardial infarction.
  • The diagnosis and treatment of angina and myocardial infarction.
  • Angina and Myocardial Infarction in relation to dental treatment.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module you will be able to explain the difference between angina and myocardial infarction and discuss the digasnosis and appropriate treatment of both.
