  • About This Course

Oral infection, especially gingivitis and periodontitis may affect course and pathogenesis of a number of systemic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, pre-eclampsia and low birth weight. The purpose of this essay is to evaluate current status of oral infections, especially periodontitis, as a causal factor for systemic diseases.

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding relating to the effects of pregnancy on the oral cavity. On overview of the relationship between pregnancy and system diseases, is given.

Objectives

  • To review the effects pregnancy has on the oral cavity.
  • To review the relationship between pregnancy and systemic diseases.

Learning Outcomes

After working through this module you will be able to discuss the effects of pregnancy on the oral cavity and discuss the relationship between pregnancy and systemic diseases.
