  • About This Course

This is the sixth module in our Endodontics series of 10 recorded webinars.

It covers working length and root canal instrumentation.

The series is provided by a collaboration of experts in the field.

In this series, we endeavour to provide a unified learning platform, providing sound evidence based practical solutions to common problems encountered in day to day practice of endodontics.

At the end of this programme of ten modules, you will understand current, independent evidence based advice and increase your knowledge about how to improve your endodontic treatment.

This module is also available as part of a complete set of 10 Modules - P340 Endodontic Series

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of how to accurately and successfully determine working length, using radiographic and electronic methods, as a key to successful endodontic treatment. An overview of root canal instrumentation, selecting and using the most apporpriate intrumentation and how to use them effectively, is given.

Objectives

  • Understand how to accurately and successfully determine working length, using radiographic and electronic methods, as a key to successful endodontic treatment.
  • Explore root canal instrumentation, selecting and using the most apporpriate intrumentation.
  • Understand how to use instrumentation effectively.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you will:

  • Understand the importance of accurate determination of working length and the consequences of an improper working length.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining apical constriction and anatomy.
  • Learn how to accurately and succesfully determine the working length, using radiographic methods and electronic methods.
  • Understand the technical aspects of tools we use for endodontic treatment - engineering principles behind them, pros and cons of each type of instrument and instrumentation system.
  • Know which instrumentation system to choose, and when is the right time to use basic hand instruments.
  • Understand consequences of mishandling instruments - why and how things go wrong and what to do about it
  • Understand how to be successful and how to prevent errors.
