The plethora of ceramic systems available today for all types of indirect restorations can be confusing and overwhelming for the clinician. Having a better understanding of them is key. The authors use classification systems based on the microstructural components of ceramics and the processing techniques to help illustrate the various properties and usages.

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of the types of ceramics in use in dentistry. An overview of the classifications based on the microstructure of ceramics and their processing techniques will be given.
