Confidentiality is essential in establishing effective clinical relationships with patients. Without an assurance of confidentiality, patients will be reluctant to offer the information doctors and dentists require in order to provide adequate care.

Who has to complete this course:

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding relating to the importance of patient confidentiality, data security. An overview of the difference between personal, confidential and sensitive information, is given.

  • To understand the importance of Information Governance.
  • To review what is confidential, sensitive and personal information.
  • To review best practice for record keeping and management.
