P783 First Aid 2 - Wounds and Bleeding

  • About This Course

Under the First Aid Regulations, all workplaces must have adequate first aid provision available for all employees, although there is no legal requirement to provide first aid treatment and facilities for non-employees, including patients. This is module 2 of a series of 5.

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding relating to the six types of wound and the basic principles of preventing cross infection when treating a wound. An overview of how to apply a sterile wound dressing and know how to deal with life-threatening bleeding, is given.

Objectives

  • To identify the six types of wound.
  • To understand how to apply a sterile wound dressing and prevent cross infection.
  • To identify and understand how to deal with life-threatening bleeding.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module you will be able to identify the six types of wound and follow the basic principles of preventing cross infection when treating a wound. You will also be able to apply a sterile wound dressing and know how to deal with life-threatening bleeding.
