P210 Asthma in General Dental Practice

  • About This Course

Asthma is a disease in which the bronchial tubes in the lungs narrow and the lining of the airways becomes inflamed to such a degree that the patient has difficulty breathing, especially exhaling. Asthmatic patients should be reminded to bring their medication with them to all dental appointments. Everyone's asthma is different and there may be several triggers.

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of the triggers for asthma attacks, identify the signs and symptoms of an asthma attack, be aware of the different types of inhalers, and be aware of the guidelines for management of asthmatic patients in dental practice.
