About This Course
This course will provide learners with an understanding of the fundamentals of the Mental Capacity Act.
Aims
This course will teach learners how to understand the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 framework.

- Standard 1.2 Treat every patient with dignity and respect at all times
- Standard 1.6 Treat patients fairly, as individuals and without discrimination
- Standard 2.3 Recognise and promote patients’ rights to and responsibilities for making decisions about their health priorities and care
- Standard 3.2 Make sure that patients (or their representatives) understand the decisions they are being asked to make.
- Standard 8.5: You must take appropriate action if you have concerns about the possible abuse of children or vulnerable adults.
- Standard 8.5.1: You must raise any concerns you may have about the possible abuse or neglect of children or vulnerable adults. You must know who to contact for further advice and how to refer concerns to an appropriate authority such as your local social services department.
- Standard 8.5.2: You must find out about local procedures for the protection of children and vulnerable adults. You must follow these procedures if you suspect that a child or vulnerable adult might be at risk because of abuse or neglect.
