P814 Introduction to Child Protection Level 1

The aim of this course is to provide a basic introduction to safeguarding and child protection for non-clinical staff. Passing this module gives refresher training at level 1 (introduction) child protection. Developed by our in-house child protection experts, they are in line with the latest government guidance including Safeguarding in General Dental Practice 2019 (Public Health England) and are fully CQC compliant.

This is designed for staff including receptionists, practice managers and staff working in health care settings, who do not have some degree of contact with children and young people and/or parents/carers. If you do have contact with the any of the above, take the P810 Safeguarding and Child Protection (Level 2) course (this level 1 course is included in the level 2 course).

Learning Outcomes

Aims

  • To understand the background and reasons for current child protection legislation
  • To understand the relevance and requirements for the dental team in child protection
  • To standardise your child protection protocols in line with current CQC and GDC guidelines

On completion of this module you will understand the requirements of current national guidelines, the reason for child protection legislation and the role that non clinical dental team members play in child protection.
