Ian Mills FFGDP(UK)
Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK)
Ian Mills is currently Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) and a Trustee of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and the College of General Dentistry. He is a partner in an 8-surgery mixed practice in North Devon and is an honorary Associate Professor in General Dental Practice at Peninsula Dental School.
Ian has represented the profession on various local and national committees, including the BDA General Dental Practice Committee, Devon Local Dental Committee and CQC Dental Steering Group. During the COVID pandemic, Ian has been actively involved in various national stakeholder groups supporting the response of the dental profession and is currently member of FGDP(UK) COVID Guideline Group and the SDCEP AGP Rapid Review Group.
In addition to his clinical practice, Ian is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education, and is actively involved in primary care-based research with a particular interest in person-centred care, patient reported outcome measures and environmental sustainability.
Charlotte Stilwell is a specialist prosthodontist in private practice in Harley Street, London. She trained at the Royal Dental College in Copenhagen, Denmark followed by post-graduate training and part-time lecturer post at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Charlotte Stilwell is currently international president of the ITI International Team for Implantology, senior lecturer at University Clinic of Dentistry, Geneva and an examiner for the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Charlotte is also a co-founder and core group member of WIN Women Implantology Network.

Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry, University of Liverpool
Dr Laura Gartshore is a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Liverpool School of Dentistry, where she became Undergraduate Programme Director in 2019. Laura completed the RCS England Lady Estelle Wolfson Emerging Leaders Fellowship in 2018-2019. Following this, Laura has taken up opportunities to work with RCS England and WinS as a speaker, mentor and educator.
Laura has published her experiences of the Emerging Leaders Programme with advice on how to make the most of it in the RCS England Bulletin, 'From Fellowship to Leadership' and for the RCS England 'Choose to Challenge' initiative earlier this year. Laura has presented widely as an invited speaker about the challenges faced in leadership and about how we can all choose to challenge these. She has an active interest in gender bias in our professions and in our supporting each other to access leadership opportunities.
Professor Jennifer Gallagher MBE
Dean for International Affairs, Kings College London, Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health
Professor Jennifer Gallagher MBE (Jenny), is a Global Envoy for King’s College London. Jenny is Dean for International Affairs, Newland-Pedley Professor of Oral Health Strategy and Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health in the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences. She supports the education and training of future dental professionals and researchers, including specialty training in Dental Public Health. Professor Gallagher has held several senior professional roles including President of British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (2012-13); Co-President of European Association for Dental Public Health (2013); and President of the Odontology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine (2013-14). She is currently Chair of the Consultants Group of BASCD (2017), an elected member of Faculty Board of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2020-) and President Designate for the Global Oral Health Inequalities Research Network of the International Association for Dental Research.
Personal research interests include a particular focus on shaping the healthcare workforce to meet the needs of the population, with a strong emphasis on prevention and the care of vulnerable groups. Her team is currently exploring a range of workforce issues including professional careers; utilising workforce skill mix; planning human resources for oral health; professionalism, and how best to deliver care for older people. Additionally, Jenny is involved in global health services projects exploring health systems strengthening and workforce development in low and middle-income countries including Sub-Saharan Africa. She is contributing to the World Health Organisation on oral health workforce issues. Professor Gallagher is widely published and was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List of 2015 for her services to oral health.
