Janet Clarke MBE

Chair of Community Dental Services CIC, a Trustee of the Oral Health Foundation, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the College of General Dentistry

Janet Clarke qualified in the 1980s from Birmingham University and went on to work in general practice, but primarily the community dental service in and around Birmingham. She had significant involvement with the British Dental Association, firstly as Chair of the Central Committee for Community and Public Health Dentistry and then as BDA President in 2011. She was a member of the Steele Review team in 2008 and led the production of the Commissioning Guide for Special Care Dentistry that was published in 2015. She held the post of Deputy Chief Dental Officer for England, and chaired the Local Professional Network for dentistry in the West Midlands until October 2019 and was awarded an MBE for services to dentistry in 2010.

Janet is currently a non-executive director of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Chair of Community Dental Services CIC, a Trustee of the Oral Health Foundation and is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the College of General Dentistry.

Eddie Crouch

Eddie Crouch was elected as the new chair of the British Dental Association’s Principal Executive Committee (PEC). Vice chair of the PEC since 2014, he served as secretary of Birmingham Local Dental Committee for over ten years and was also chair.

Eddie qualified in 1984 from Kings and now provides Orthodontic Care for patients in South Birmingham in two locations, having previously been a Clinical Assistant in Orthodontics.

He has previously chaired the Annual Conference of LDCs and the West Midlands Association of LDCs, held the post of President of the Central Counties Branch and served on the GDPC Committee for over ten years.

Deputy Chief Dental officer for England

Jason Wong MBE is a General Dental practitioner who qualified from University of Birmingham in 1995. He is a partner at the 12 surgery Maltings Dental practice in Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Jason is currently Deputy Chief Dental officer for England. He was a Local Dental Network Chair for NHS England & NHS Improvement in the Midlands covering Leicestershire Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. He has held a range of positions including chairing the Local Dental Network for Hertfordshire and South Midlands and the West Midlands as well as secretary of Lincolnshire Local Dental committee for 16 years.

Jason has clinical interests in the treatment of anxious patients, Oral surgery and Implant Dentistry. He also has an interest in prevention and oral health promotion and was part of several Oral health alliance and boards across the region. He is a well known speaker nationally on clinical and non clinical topics. He was awarded a MBE for services to Dentistry and Oral health in the new year honours list 2020

President designate of British Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Miss Daljit Kaur Dhariwal started working life as a dental surgery assistant in west London and went on to dual qualification in dentistry and medicine at Cardiff. She was the first female consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) from a black / minority ethnic (BAME) background appointed in the UK in 2006 and works at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She is currently President Designate for the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) and takes up her presidential post in 2023. She has numerous awards for teaching, training and innovation in surgery and is a previous recipient of the BAOMS Presidents prize 2008, the BAOMS Surgery prize 2010, RCS Lady Estelle Wolfson Fellowship 2016 and Trainers Trainer of the year 2019. She is training programme director for Health Education Thames Valley for OMFS and an examiner for the Joint Intercollegiate exit examinations (JCIE) and for Oxford University Medical School. She is well known nationally and internationally in OMFS and has numerous publications to her name.
