Ian Dunn BchD MFGDP(UK) MSc (Perio)
Specialist in Periodontics
Ian qualified from Leeds in 1998 and went into general practice in the North West. In 2001 he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. In 2002 he joined the teaching staff at Liverpool Dental Hospital in the Periodontology Department where he became the Undergraduate Teaching Lead in Periodontics and a Senior Clinical Teacher in Periodontics, a role he held for 5 years until leaving that position in 2018. In 2010 he completed his MSc in Periodontology and in 2013 he was admitted to the GDC Specialist List in Periodontics.
Ian is the Perio Lead for the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and runs their short course in Periodontics and leads the Perio components of the FGDP Restorative Diploma.
Ian spends three days a week in private practice in the North West of England where he takes referrals for all aspects of Periodontology. He is the British Society of Periodontology regional representative for Merseyside and Cheshire, and serves on their Council as Honorary Treasurer. In 2014 he was also elected to the BSP Faculty.
Dr Sanjeev Bhanderi BDS MSc MFGDP(UK)
Specialist in Endodontics, Senior Lecturer (University of Liverpool)
Dr Sanjeev Bhanderi qualified in 1993 from Guys Hospital (University of London).
In 1997, Sanjeev completed is postgraduate training in Endodontology at the University of Manchester Dental hospital, and has been a GDC-registered Specialist in Endodontics since 2000.
He has since worked exclusively in private Specialist endodontic practices in Manchester, Liverpool, and London.
Over the period, Dr Sanjeev Bhanderi has been committed to teaching and is a well-known lecturer in the UK:
Course Leader (2009 to 2012) for the MSc Endodontology at the UCLan, Preston
Visiting Lecturer for the M.Clin.Dent. in Endodontology, University of Manchester
Currently, Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool Dental school for the DDSc Endodontic Specialist training programme
He wrote and led the Endodontic modules for the FGDP Diploma in Restorative Dentistry up to 2018
Numerous CE courses/conventions for general dentists throughout the UK, and has lectured internationally on his Specialty in the Middle East, India, South East Asia, and Europe
In 2020, Dr Sanjeev is currently the President of the British Endodontic Society. He is an active Specialist member of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE), and has a particular interest in endodontic microsurgery (U. Penn, Philadelphia certified).
He also works by legal instruction as a certified medico-legal witness (University of Cardiff Law School).
In 2009, Sanjeev opened his new state-of-the-art Specialist practice and teaching facility in Manchester where he also runs hands-on live clinical demos. and courses for visiting practitioners and postgraduate students.
Dr Amin Aminian
Amin Aminian qualified from Liverpool University in 1993.
He moved to Manchester in 1997 to undertake a Masters degree in fixed and removable prosthodontics at the University Dental Hospital Manchester. The degree was awarded in 2000 and he gained his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow, MFDS RCPS, in the same year. He completed a 4-year specialist training programme in Prosthodontics in 2004 and was awarded the MRD (Prosthodontics) from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in the same year becoming registered on the GDC Specialist List in Prosthodontics.
His referral practice is based in Cheshire and is limited to prosthodontics (predominantly implant reconstructions), management of the worn and failing dentition, where he works within a multi-disciplinary team.
He lectures on the Masters programme in AGDP at Birmingham University and is an honorary lecturer at Manchester University where he is involved in the teaching of postgraduate students and supervising research projects. He also lectures on the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry (FGDP) and is a co-organiser of the ARC (Aesthetic Restorative Course) programme.
Dr Jalpesh Patel BDS (Hons) (Lond) MJDF RCS Eng MSc (Aes Dent) PG Cert (Aes Med)
Founder and trainer at the RASA Academy
Dr. Jalpesh Patel completed his undergraduate training at King’s College London in 2010. He is an Aesthetic and Dental practitioner who is a member of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons and has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Skin Aging and Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Manchester, Jalpesh has also successfully completed a Masters in Aesthetic Dentistry, at King’s College London, graduating with Distinction. As a member of the Practitioner Register Committee of the Joint Council of Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) he has a strong commitment to improving the regulation and learning pathways within the facial aesthetic industry having felt that there has been a lack of formal guidelines and educational structure for those wanting to enter and practice in this field; hence the creation of the RASA Academy and the development of the Postgraduate Certificate in Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics alongside the College of General Dentistry.
Dr Sami Stagnell BDS MFDS (RCSEs) MSc MFGDP(UK) AKC MOralSurg RCSEng Ed) AFFMLM
Specialist Oral Surgeon
Having graduated from Kings College London Dental Institute in 2009 Sami worked across primary care and Maxillofacial Surgery House jobs in the South of England before taking on specialty training in Oral Surgery.
As a specialist he currently manages and provides NHS Oral Surgery across the Wessex region and is one of the few UK graduates to have held an ITI scholarship where he spent a year in Graz Austria with the Oral Surgery and Implant team expanding his Implantology skillset.
He holds Memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and England as well as the Faculty of General Dentistry. Sami has completed an MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry and was awarded one of the first recognised UK Fellowships in Clinical Leadership with Health Education England. Furthermore, he is an active member of many societies and represents the profession with the British Dental Association and at the Royal Society of Medicine as well as acting as a Key Opinion Leader to several companies within the industry.
Dr Amit Mistry BDS, MSc Imp Dent, MFDS RCS Eng, Dip Imp Dent RCS Ed
Amit is a current ADI trustee and Northwest Representative. He qualified from the University of Manchester in 2001 and has since attained an MSc in dental implantology with distinction from the University of Salford and the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh implant diploma.
He is a full time dental implantologist with over 20 years experience in treating implant cases from single placements to full mouth cases involving zygomatic implants. Amit regularly performs reconstructive grafting of both hard and soft tissue and is involved in research to find methods in improving outcomes using digital technology.
Amit has taught for many years and is very experienced in teaching dentists but mainly focuses on teaching and mentoring the more complexed treatments such as full arch reconstructions to experienced implantologists.
Amit’s main focus is to reduce risk of complications by increasing the accuracy of implant surgical and restorative treatment using digital technology.
Dr Archana Prasad BDS, FDSRCS(Eng.), MFGDP(UK)
Specialist in Special Care Dentistry
Dr Archana Prasad Qualified in dentistry 1992. Obtained fellowship from Royal College of Surgeons in Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery.
Later completed membership from Royal college of Surgeons In General Dentistry. Since completion of degree has been extremely involved in oral and Maxilla-facial surgery and Special Care Dentistry.
She is registered specialist in Special Care Dentistry.
Dr Prasad was full time consultant in Special Care Dentistry in Lancashire Teaching Hospital which involved teaching and managing challenging cases under inhalation sedation, intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia, she left full time consultant post to run her own Dental practice and part time consultant position at Salford NHS Hospital.
Dr Prasad is passionate about integrating Special Care Dentistry, which is non glamorous speciality into high street practice, proving that it can still be rewarding financially and professionally, also giving out message that Special Care Dentistry is not only for community and hospital based speciality it can be persuaded in General high street practice too.
Dr Ross Hobson BDS, MDS, PhD, FDS, MDOrth (RCPS), FDS (RCS Ed), FDS (RCS Eng), SFHEA
Ross graduated from University of Newcastle, has Fellowships from Glasgow, Edinburgh and England. He obtained his MDS and PhD at Newcastle. He was the first dentist to be awarded Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
His specialist orthodontic training was in Dundee, and his MDOrth from Glasgow. From 1992 to 2009 he was as Senior lecturer/Consultant, Head of Department and led Orthodontic MSc/ Specialist training Newcastle. He has published over 60 articles on Orthodontics, hypodontia, dental materials and education.
He chaired CCDAS (BDA academic committee) and member of BDA Executive Board 2004-2008. He was awarded the BDA Fellowship in 2010.
Ross left Newcastle Dental School 2009 to establish Windmill Dental Suite, the NE’s first private multi disciplinary specialist practice. In 2012 he established Windmill Orthodontic Group with 7 practices in the NE of England. Appointed to the Chair in Orthodontics at UClan in 2012 to develop part time specialist orthodontic training. In 2015 he joined IAS Academy as training director. His passion is making orthodontics simple and accessible to everyone.
Ross is an international yachtsman, with a number of major race wins and world records. He recently became a pub landlord owning his local pub The Bereseford Arms, Whalton
