Prof. Sarah Baker PhD CPsychol

Professor of Psychology as applied to Dentistry

Sarah Baker is a Professor of Psychology as applied to Dentistry at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, and is a Chartered Health Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She is currently Head of the Unit of Oral Health, Dentistry and Society which includes Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Dental Public Health and Primary Dental Care.  She has a particular interest in what influences people’s experiences of their oral health and dental treatment and has worked on several projects in relation to malocclusion, dental trauma, dental anxiety and phobia, periodontitis, dentine hypersensitivity, xerostomia, head and neck cancer, and orthodontic-orthognathic treatment. She is Past President of the Behavioural, Epidemiological and Health Services Research Division of the International Association of Dental Research, a 2018 IADR Distinguished Scientist, and is the Editor-in-Chief for the international journal Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology.
