In this series of webinars, attendees will gain an overview of the topic of dental ethics. To begin we will examine the core principles and ethical frameworks which underpin dental ethics through examination of contemporary theories and literature. Following this, we will look at how this can be applied in practice before turning our attention to specific issues relating to autonomy, consent and capacity. The overarching aim of the lecture series is to give attendees a detailed understanding of the field and the role of dental ethics in practice.

This first webinar will give attendees an overview of the core principles and frameworks within dental ethics. We will look at the three main ethical theories used within dental ethics.

Keerut Oberai

Keerut Oberai is a General Dental Practitioner in West London and is currently completing a Master’s in Medical Law and Ethics at King’s College London. In addition to completing his BDS at the University of Liverpool, he completed an intercalated BSc in Philosophy, also at King’s College London. Keerut has a particular interest in issues relating to dental ethics and professionalism, writing a number of published articles relating to this field. He is a keen educator completing a PGCert in Dental Education at the University of Bedfordshire and has delivered talks and seminars on the subject of ethics to both medical and dental postgraduate students. Keerut’s interest in the field culminated in creation of Healthcare Ethics and Law a learning platform which aims to help educate healthcare colleagues in the topic of ethics and law (accessible at healthcareethicsandlaw.co.uk).
