Emma Riley

Healthcare Services Director at RIS Products

Emma has over 25 years experience as a dental nurse and oral health educator and spent 17 years working as a dental nurse specialist at The Pennine Acute Hospital Trust in Manchester. The last 7of those years she was a sponsored Macmillan Oral Health Practitioner, the only role of its kind in the UK. 

Emma has presented nationally and internationally on the importance of oral health with oncology patients, with a strong focus on head, neck and throat patients and has also had articles published on her role including evidence of a reduction in incidence of aspiration pneumonia with good oral care and mucositis. She was also a key member of the UKOMIC board.

In 2015 she was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Dental Nursing and the current Chair of The Society of British Dental Nurses and as ambassador as the expert on oncology oral health and advises on end of life care and oral health for patients with complex health issues. In November 2014 Emma was privileged to be invited to be the key note speaker in the House of Commons at the launch of mouth cancer awareness month. In her current role for RIS Healthcare Emma continues to champion oral health and currently leads her teams providing elderly oral health improvement programmes for the Rochdale Public Health Department and similar programmes in Wigan and Oldham.
