Senior Clinical Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry

Dr Robertson is a senior clinical lecturer/honorary consultant in restorative dentistry in the University of Glasgow Dental School,  He was born and bred in the west of Scotland and has a wife and three children.  He graduated in 2002 with an honours degree in dentistry and worked in general dental practice before commencing work in secondary care.  He completed his MFDS at the royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh and trained in Restorative dentistry during which time he completed a PhD in the oral complications of type 1 diabetes.  He completed his specialist training in restorative dentistry including prosthodontics, endodontics and periodontics.  He has been the Principle Investigator on a randomised controlled clinical trial on denture stomatitis and has worked on understanding the oral microbiome.  He is currently the teaching lead in fixed prosthodontics at the University of Glasgow and teaches on the Masters programme in Endodontics.   His research interests include the epidemiology of severe odontogenic infection, antibiotic stewardship in dental practice, The relationships between oral and systemic disease, the treatment and resistance of microbial biofilms in prosthodontics and Quality Improvement in Dentistry.
