Specialist Orthodontist, Clinical Dental Adviser for the GDC and a Bank Orthodontic Advisor for NHSBSA

Alison is a Specialist Orthodontist, currently working in NHS practice in Wimbledon. Alison qualified at Bristol in 1982 and worked in the Community Dental Service there before being accepted for specialist training in Orthodontics at the Royal London Hospital, in 1991. She returned to Bristol in 1996 to take up a post as a research fellow to the first Clinical Standards Advisory Group (CSAG) National study of cleft care and was appointed as a Consultant Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics at Bristol Dental Hospital in 2001.

Since moving back to London, in 2004, Alison has worked as a Consultant Orthodontist at Kings College, Orpington and Maidstone Hospitals and as a Consultant Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary College, where she led undergraduate training in orthodontics.

In 2011, Alison was appointed as the Clinical Supervisor for a specialist orthodontist, working under GDC Interim Orders.  This led to Alison developing an interest in medico-legal practice and dental regulation.  She spent two years working as an Associate Dento-legal Advisor for Dental Protection and has completed an LLM degree in medico-legal practice at Cardiff University.

Alison currently holds part-time posts as a Clinical Dental Adviser for the GDC and a Bank Orthodontic Advisor for NHSBSA.  She also works for 1-2 days per week in NHS Specialist Practice in Wimbledon.
