Understanding the importance of obtaining valid consent at the start of each stage during treatment. It is important to confirm ongoing consent, remembering that if a patient has given consent once, It does not mean they have agreed to everything else. All consent discussions between the patient and the dental team involved must be documented onto the patients profile.

A very important subject so aspects with regard to consentI learnt mental capacity is the patients ability to understand and perceived related and that YES to a question doesnt mean they fully understand what has been relayed to them.I find the skull is a useful aid when describing the temperomandibularr joint function

From this course I have learned about the best ways to handle patients who may not have the full capacity to give consent to treatment. The course explained what are the bets options to take in different cases i.e. if a patient has dementia. This will benefit me in my role as a dental nurse.
